Why “Myelin?”
I selected the phrasing of Coach ‘Myelin’ Fitness:
What is Myelin?
Myelin is produced by special cells (called oligodendrocytes- in the central nervous system... and Schwann cells- in the peripheral nervous system).
It is a fatty substance that forms a sheath around nerves, including those in the brain and spinal cord.
This insulation is crucial for the proper functioning of the nervous system.
As someone trains/exercises, systemic myelination improves.
Myelination enhances the speed AND coordination of signals traveling between different parts of the body and the brain.
Professional Mission
Just like how Myelin forms it’s fatty sheath around the nerves in your body, thereby optimizing movement pattern pathways, it is my ambition to insulate my clients from the horrific state of the modern-day fitness industry through a premium, affordable, and educational service.
I believe in transparency-which includes sharing where I get my information from- and that to be the best Coach, Physical & Health Educator, and Trainer, you need to permanently remain in the headspace of a Student.
While I learn from my clients as much as I teach, it is my mission to, with respect, address the elephant in the room that is preventing you from attaining what you say you want.

FAQ
I know NOTHING about working out, can I still do your program?
Of course, you just need to take extra time to ensure you’re following proper training principles (commitment to learning proper form, fueling your body for success, etc.)
If you sign up for fitness coaching or a custom program we will always do a physical evaluation prior to starting... and you always have the option to submit videos for form review OR meet with me for a consultation to go over fine-details/get additional guidance.
How long does it take to “transform?”
That completely depends on where you’re at in your progression, your points of reference, to what degree you adhere to the program, and how much you are willing to learn along the way about “The Why.” Transformations are always relative!
If I do my job, you will not be training with me indefinitely. My goal is for me to transition over time from being your trainer/coach to being a TRUSTED consultant you reach out to.
Do you provide any FREE or reduced rate services?
Yes, especially if the client is willing to provide social proof of services by, for example, displaying their transformation. I also don’t mind reducing rates for current clients that give me referrals and/or testimonials.
What are your credentials?
In 2019, I graduated from college (Carroll University) at the top my my class in my subject area after receiving a 5 year degree in Physical & Health Education (w/ Coaching Emphasis) and an Adaptive License to work with special populations. I spent a few years as teacher/department head. I’m also a certified personal trainer... and have been coaching lifting/athletics since I was a teenager... one of my favorite things to do in this world!
Do you have a training specialty? What type of training is your favorite?
Strength training with compound movements is, by far, my favorite method of training because of how quickly people see their results. I can’t tell you how many people I work with, trainers included, that see amazing physique results/break plateaus when they finally decide to focus on improving total force production, while using accessory work for additional hypertrophy and targeting of “weak points,” or areas of focus.
Do you allow for a trial period of your services?
Yes. While some would argue that the trial period would devalue my service, I argue that it’s an opportunity for me to PROVE my value to the prospective client. I’m EXTREMELY confident you’ll think it’s worth it... otherwise I wouldn’t offer that option. Ask about it!
Why should someone hire you to program for them?
I WILL get you a superior stimulus with less work than what most trainers will give you (quality over quantity). Quality programming is proportional to your present work capacity... it really aggravates me when I see trainers put clients through programs they clearly aren’t ready to recover from.
What sets you apart from someone else in the industry?
My unique approach, attention to detail, competence, and engagement. Understanding mental health/psychology also helps... as well as the additional resources I provide that other trainers simply don’t (App Tools, Google Drive). Additionally, my experience as a collegiate athlete, coach, teacher, and former “fat kid.” Ask me about my journey!
What type of training split do you recommend?
With most clients, I prefer to have them start working out with either an Upper/Lower Split or a Full Body Split, usually 3-4 days per week. I do have options for clients that prefer to train at a higher frequency (PPL/”Bro” Splits), but that is typically after I know doing so won’t negatively impact recovery/consistency AND they possess the appropriate work capacity to do so!
More FAQ
Do you provide custom meal plans for your nutrition clients?
I’m not a dietician. Other than being a trainer/coach, I am a Physical & Health Educator. I use resources (like TDEE and MyFitnessPal), to help clients track macronutrients & strategize to come up with a diet plan that is right for them and is in alignment with their goals.
My most successful clients don’t follow a meal plan to every little detail, they collect data via their log and adjust.
I’m a vegetarian/vegan, can you still help me with diet?
I can meet you where you’re at, sure! At the time I’m writing this I have several clients that do not consume meat/most animal products. Part of what we do is optimize based on what you decide your lifestyle is and what you’re not willing to compromise on.
Full transparency, however, as an ex-vegan/vegetarian, I’m a firm believer that animal products are more optimal for the health of a human being. I go over why in the resources I share with clients in Google Drive... two reasons are the physical/mental health issues people tend to experience as well as how nutrients are absorbed by the body.
If my physique is better than yours, why should I listen to you?
Do you think the best athletes in the world ignore their experienced coach because they know they possess more raw talent at the moment? Of course not. They would be letting themselves down if they did that.
Having “the look,” while important for sales and client acquisition, is a big reason why clients get screwed... they falsely assume the best trainer for them is the one they want to look like. I’d say this is the case a minority of the time.
What’s up with your prices? Why aren’t they higher?
Charging a novice trainee high-ticket pricing just trying to get in shape, which most people are, is borderline predatory. People can do what they want with their own money, but ALMOST ALL of those clients quit early... despite being told they are more likely to stick with it if they are paying a lot for the service- which typically is WAY overhyped.
If you fell victim to one of these people, show me the payment and your 1st month of programming with me will be FREE OF CHARGE.
Can you define someone’s training level?
Permanent novices are >95% of people in the gym. They don’t TRAIN (which is different than exercising for the sake of physical activity/general wellness).
Novice trainees are people that have started a progression and can make progress workout to workout, week to week. Rate of adaptation is high if programming is optimal.
Intermediates are people that have trained for a while, but have exhausted the ability to hit personal bests workout to workout. They might make progress once a week if lucky, or every two or three weeks if the programming is optimal.
Advanced trainees are an entirely different breed. All training variables are dialed in. Sleep, Nutrition, Recovery... they MIGHT hit personal bests only a few times out of the year.
FYI - MOST “TRAINING PROFESSIONALS” WILL NEVER HIT INTERMEDIATE, YET THEY MARKET THEMSELVES AS ADVANCED! READ THAT AGAIN!!!
What is your take on social media?
The reality is training world trends/social media is plagued with influencers marketing themselves as “professionals,” when they are really just attractive “gym bros/brahs” with bottom-tier qualifications. You really have to take the time to make sure the person sees you as more than a dollar sign OR dopamine hit (from getting likes.)
Because You Asked...
How do you handle payments?
I use a third party service, called Stripe, to process payments for services.
Stripe is used globally to process payments from a number of different currencies... all Coach Myelin Fitness products & services are charged in USD.
If I’m outside the United States, can I still go to you for services?
You can pay for and receive services from anywhere on the planet where you have an internet connection.
Although I am based out of Wisconsin, at the time I’m typing this, I have clients in the USA, Canada, Europe, Africa, and Australia.
Do you allow for refunds for monthly subscription services?
Clients are responsible for canceling prior to the renewal date of their subscription. Plain and simple. If there are extenuating circumstances, please reach out and I’ll see what I can do!
I don’t have access to a gym, will you train me?
Absolutely. Even if you have access to ZERO equipment, you can still make significant progress towards your wellness goals!
What does it mean when you say your programs have data collection?
Whether you are testing the waters with a generic program, are completely self sufficient with a custom program, or are receiving full-online-fitness-coaching services, logging your workouts in the app generates some pretty awesome graphs that can be used to adjust and review programing.
As you exercise over time, you will be able to reference previous personal bests and use past performances to autoregulate each session. I teach you how to do this!
Do you use other resources besides your fitness app?
Of course! I love using tools like Google Drive, email, and wetransfer (file sharing service) to help teach you/share with you valuable content.
Google Drive is where coaching clients get bonus resources (to use for LIFE) and is also where they can view their form review.
Can you help with my injuries/pain?
I’m not a doctor or physical therapist... and I must stay in my scope of practice. I’m not here to treat you, I’m here to TRAIN you!
With that being said, the number of clients that say the strength training we do helps them get out of pain and live better is very high...
Once you’re cleared for activity, a big part of my job is assessment of your weak points... and addressing these tends to be where people see the most benefit/carry over to other aspects of their lives!
I LOVE collaborating with other health professionals. If there are things that need to be addressed, let’s do that!
